Yeah REM are class.
"It's The End Of The World As We Know It", "Losing My Religion", "Everybody Hurts", "Imitation of Life" and "Man on the Moon" all classics!

still haven't checked out the white stripes, but i've heard they should be my cup of tea.
lately for me it's been the doves (not the new one) (not sure how they're seen in the UK, but over here they are doing well)... concrete blonde's new album, pj harvey, just bought "raw power" by iggy pop and the stooges (a little late, yes), still very into some of the verve's stuff... has anyone ever listened to the donna's? sort of ramones-ish but young girls. suprisingly good. just bought it yesterday (there was a ridiculous sale at tower in the states and i went a little overboard).

Yeah have to admit REM are a good band with some brillant songs.
As for the doves yes they are over here, not very well know and i think they had a top ten hit recently

yeah, i'm not a fan of their top ten over there. if you listen to an album of theirs, check out LOST SOULS. it is excellent.
